AM

The unusually warm weather continues. Ran at about 7 minute pace.

Got followed by a friendly golden retriever for a while. Nice dog.  I'm surprised how many dogs are roaming around neighborhoods or off leashes, lots of overly confident dog owners.  Seems unwise in our litigious society.  For the record, I love dogs.

PM

Too nice of a night to stay in and lounge.  Did 5.25 miles easy then picked it up for the last .75 in 4 minutes.  Feel like I still have some work to do if I'm to hold this pace for a 5k.

There's plenty of unleashed dogs in the park where I run my german shepherd in the mornings, too. Which is a problem because maxi is not really fond of other dogs, to put it mildly, especially those running wild and unleashed toward us. But he hasn't lost a fight so far. But it's also a (bigger) problem because those who set their dogs free in the middle of a city, park or no park, are just letting them down. I can't tell you how many lost dog signs there are around here(some are on the same post as the "all dogs must be on a leash" signs).

Sounds like Maxi is a champ. Pretty sad that there are so many lost dogs, hopefully most of them found a good home.

Pretty shortsighted of some owners to take their dogs of the leash and just let them do their thing. You are one of the responsible ones. I'm looking forward to getting a dog/running partner as soon as I have some more space for him.

"First-Bite" Rule. In most states, if a dog-owner is unaware of his or her dog's predisposition for biting, said dog-owner gets a free pass of sorts for the first bite (difficult to find them negligent). Of course, dog-owners are always subject to fines imposed by local authorities, e.g., city ordinance requiring dogs be kept on leashes, etc.

I love dogs too. I have two little ones right now (Yorkie and Shi-Poo), but I grew up with big dogs, and eventually I want another one to serve as a permanent running buddy.

By the way, good mileage. Foot must be nearly all the way back.
