A couple of wins in small local races. 

I have always been an active person and need to do something physical everyday or I don't feel right. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Mile: 4:40

5k: 16 min (track or honest course)

10k: 33 min

1/2 Marathon: 1:13

Steadily increase my mileage to 60-70 miles a week.

 

Long-Term Running Goals:

Eventually run a marathon.

Run for health and sanity.

15 minutes on the stationary bike then headed out in the rain.

Was surprised to see some other joggers out.  Wasn't too cold but I got drenched.  Maybe I should splurge for some rain gear.

You're braver than I was. I hit the treadmill. But the rain gear is totally worth the investment. I'm still running in some that is 10 yr old.

Light jacket and hat should do it. I love the rain. And I will do anything to avoid the treadmill!

Nice miles by the way for the week. So listen...what is your VDOT? I never figured it out...but it has got to be up there.

Good question PRE.

I will have a better idea in a couple weeks when I hit the track but I feel I'm somewhere around 60-62 looking at Daniels. If I'm to break 16 minutes I will need to improve to a 65. When I do some 400 meter repeats I will be able to nail it down better. Sorry for the inexact response.

I'm in total agreement regarding the treadmill and think I will get some rain gear.

ACorn...Hi. Thanks for getting back to me on the question. So about a 61 VDOT give or take one point...and aiming for 65! I wish you well with that. I am about where you are in the sense that my aim is to improve my VDOT by 4 points...I am at 41 and want to be at 45! Your paces are about 2:20/mile faster than mine for Easy, Marathon, Threshold, etc.

I was thinking about you the other day while I was doing my speedwork...putting together my 200s at 6:48/mile. I was moving super fast, incredible turnover, and I was thinking how you carry this pace for long distances - and not straining!!!
