Running Accomplishments:

I didn't run competitively in high school or college but have enjoyed running since the age of fifteen.

My mileage has been around 20 miles a week for the past 3 or 4 years but extremely inconsistent.

I am wanting to become a more focused runner and think this site will be a great way to track my progress.

I have had minor injuries and often ride the stationary bike to cross train.

Recent Races:

2011 Greek Festival 5k 16:40

2011 Oktoberfast 5k (track) 17:07

2011 Crack of Dawn 8k (Down Millcreek Canyon): 26:29

2012 Running of the Leopards 5k (15:53)

Salt Lake 10 Miler (56:04)

Short-Term Running Goals:

1600m: 4:30

5k: 16 min (track or honest course)

10k: 33 min

These are reasonable goals. I think by the end of 2012 I can reach them, if the world doesn't end.

Stay injury free and continue to enjoy running!

Planned Races

Crack of Dawn 8k (6/2)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy and consistent.  Learn more about the sport and keep improving.

I plan on transitioning to running longer distances and enter longer races as my mileage builds. Hope to be averaging 50 miles a week by the time the year ends.

Personal:

I enjoy being outside, golf, cycling, mixed martial arts, reading and laughing as much as possible.

My girlfriend is awesome and supports my running.

Ran a 10k loop during my lunch break.

Took it easy for the first 5k, 22:15 then picked it up for the second in 19:15.  Felt really good today.

That's a nice run, you must be having great weather right now.

Yeah low 40s and no wind, great running weather.

That's a nice little pickup 5k for you. Your playing around at lunch is a bit faster than my pr.

You should run the 15K on Saturday! I see you don't have a goal for that one...and it's even at you time of day - 10am :o)

I'm actually considering it now that you mentioned it.

The hesitancy on my part is that I haven't done any runs that long for at least a couple of months. My endurance is fairly weak.

On the other hand, since I have no expectations, I may do it and just treat it as a hard training run. Go out around 6 minute pace and see how I feel. I will decide soon.

I nearly fell out of my seat when I read this. Second 5K in 19:15! Very, very close to 18 minutes for the 5K! Then I remembered you are not aiming for an 18 minute 5K time eventually...but rather a 16 minute 5K. Okay, I am recovered. You referencing the miles as Marathon Pace miles got me back on track. Good run.

nice 3 minute negative split, that is where sub 16 comes, in the 2nd half of the race. anyone can go out in 5:00, it takes that kinda pacing to hit 5:05-5:10 the last mile. keep it up!
